The combined application of exercise therapy and millimeter wave therapy can effectively promote the recovery of knee joint function in KOA patients, significantly relieve pain symptoms, regulate the levels of inflammatory factors and cartilage metabolism markers in the body, and has high treatment safety, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
Effects of Combined Exercise Therapy and Millimeter Wave Therapy on Functional Recovery and Biomarkers in Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA)
Objective: To explore and analyze the effects of the combined application of exercise therapy and millimeter wave therapy on knee joint function recovery and related biomarkers in patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA), so as to provide theoretical basis and practical reference for the clinical treatment of KOA.
Methods: A total of 120 KOA patients admitted to the hospital from January 2022 to December 2024 were selected as the research objects. They were divided into a control group and an observation group by random number table method, with 60 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were treated with conventional drug therapy combined with exercise therapy, while patients in the observation group received additional millimeter wave therapy on the basis of the treatment plan of the control group. After the treatment, the knee joint function, pain degree, inflammatory factor levels, cartilage metabolism marker levels and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.
Results: After treatment, the HSS score of knee joint function in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the VAS score of pain was significantly lower than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05); the levels of inflammatory factors IL-1β, TNF-α and cartilage metabolism markers MMP-3, CTX-II in the serum of the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05); there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05).
Conclusion: The combined application of exercise therapy and millimeter wave therapy can effectively promote the recovery of knee joint function in KOA patients, significantly relieve pain symptoms, regulate the levels of inflammatory factors and cartilage metabolism markers in the body, and has high treatment safety, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
